"She's a spinster"...
Spinning wool into thread was the first step in the cloth-making process. the people who performed this task were called "spinsters." spinsters were usually the unmarried women in a family. eventually all unmarried women-whether they could spin or not-were called spinsters. most women today hate this word!
on another note...
when talking about her cat, Franque, my 3.5 year old neighbor said: "when i squish him, he purrs!!!"
