Sweetness

Don't you just LOVE it when you are walking after dark and seemingly out of nowhere you catch the delicious scent of a blooming flower/tree...and your whole being smiles?
I hope that's what happens just the moment before I die. Can't think of a better send off!

More Potty Talk!

The other day i went to lift the lid on the toilet. Lo and behold, guess what i saw?
A scorpion at the bottom of the bowl. I had to stop and ask myself if scorpions swam...
They do not in case you were wondering. This one was dead. Didn't matter tho cuz there was NO WAY i was sitting down on that toilet seat. In fact, i might never again!!!

My dad on his 90th birthday!
There's quite a bit of background noise so you have to concentrate on what he is saying.
Though he may appear as if he's not playing with a full deck, what you're seeing is his sense of humor!
It seemed as though it was hard for him to actually believe he was 90 years old. In fact, he often talks about the people in their "retirement community" as the old folks as if he is not one of them.
I know I'm partial but I think he is so dang cute!!!

Simple Pleasures

...as i was walking to work this morning there were several horizontal strands of what appeared to be spider web material strung all the way across the street. in that moment of perfect light they shone all colors of the rainbow.

....during the slow periods at my job i sat and watched the douglas fir branches with their brand new chartreuse colored tips dancing in the wind.

...on our walk my cats and i sat in different spots along the drive enjoying the warmth of the evening sun.

Cussin' Therapy!

I had a pretty full plate this evening when I got a piece of challenging news that had the potential to lay me out. Instead, my good friend called and together we cussed up a storm (it's genetic, my mom has a potty mouth.) Before I knew it I was feelin' so much better! Though VERY PI, I highly recommend it, specially the F bomb!!!

The Shocking Truth?

My five year old buddy and I were playing the other night. Seemingly out of the blue he said to me: "you're old!" After the shock wore off I asked him why he thought that. He said: "because of all the wrinkles on your face!!!"

Fragile

Today as I was marking packing boxes with the word "fragile," I thought about what it might be like if on the days we felt that way inside, we could find a way to express that on the outside. Or say, if we just lost our job or our dog died or...that we would wear that information on our sleeve, so to speak.
Because I wonder if we truly knew what was going on for others if we wouldn't be more compassionate, more patient, more giving, more tolerant?

Niche Market!

This could make me a millionaire, I'm sure of it!
Here goes. I know so, so many middle aged people (particularly women) who have serious difficulty sleeping enough or at all. Well, remember when we were infants/toddlers and our parents would drive us around in the car? Probably more often than not we'd fall asleep, right? So, why not have something like an old hearse or maybe a big old honkin' rv (more customers at one time)...you'd pick up the poor, sleep deprived, pj wearin' person, tuck them in and drive them around until they fell asleep. Then you could just park the rig and let them slumber. If they woke up, you'd start driving them around again. You could add nice touches like soothing muzak, blankies, warm milk, cats, pacifiers and the like. Worst case scenario, it could end up as a fun, mobile slumber party (hey, there's another niche market!!!)

Good Night Blessing?

Each night I fall asleep holding my cat, Liza's, paw.
We're both purring...

The Sweetest Devil Boy!

Simon, my cat, jumped up on the bed for his post patrol morning greeting. He climbed on my chest and looked at me with his most serious face on but he had a very tiny feather stuck to his bottom lip! So much love wells up inside me in moments like that I could just burst.

Paying Homage

I know I carry on about loving my little town of Occidental quite a bit and I am going to do it again...but for what I consider a very good reason. "They" immortalized the town drunk with a statue by the now famous folk artist, Patrick Amniot. It's smack in the middle of town and is quite a color-full tribute to our ex and now deceased mayor, may he rest in peace!

Welcome Drink!

I stopped by a friend's house this afternoon. When i knocked on the front door she shouted from the kitchen for me to come inside. Once in, she told me with a big ol smile on her face that she was making us welcome drinks. Having never heard the term before I, of course, asked what one was!  She had spent some time in Bali this winter and said that every place she went they would greet her with a welcome drink...some delicious and beautiful fruity concoction. On todays's menu was a fresh squeezed tangerine juice with fresh thyme and gorgeous blue borage flowers. It was some kind of delicious. I think I need to go to Bali!!!

Happiness Is...

...laying on the floor stretching and having my cat, Simon, who had just come in from the rain, climb on my chest and lay his sopping wet, purring self down for a nap!

...gardening in the rain...oh yum!

I So Love My Dad

I called my dad today while he and his buddy were in the middle of visiting their friend with Alzheimer's. The three of them have been friends since college. Dad isn't really close to this guy but in his heart the longevity of the relationship was enough to make him want to visit. He was cute as he gave me a play by play of the guy's room, what they were doing, etc.
The same is true with another friend from college. No one liked the guy but dad went to lunch with him weekly just because he knew otherwise this fella would have no social contact. He's got such a big, generous heart that way.

Chicken News!

I received a dozen hot off the press eggs recently. Inside the carton was a note that told me the names of the chickens that had laid the eggs (*Cindy Loo Hoo, Gayle...Oprah's bud, *Big Bertha, *Big Helga)
the * indicates those girls that were new to the flock. Also in the note was this: RIP in the bobcat's stomach Lady Gaga, Oprah and Madonna!!!!!!

This Touched My Heart So Sweetly
